The Ensemble Theatre production, directed by Sandra Bates, became the top-selling play in the Sydney company’s long history. Warren Mitchell, the English Olivier Award winning actor who played Mr. Green, is known throughout England and Australia as Alf Garnett, the star of Till Death Us Do Part, the English tv series that inspired All in the Family.

His co-star in the Sydney production of Visiting Mr. Green was his son Daniel Mitchell.

“Apart from its considerable wit and understanding, the strength of Visiting Mr. Green is the rich tapestry it weaves from the characters’ lives. The tormented histories, the persecution, the solitary isolation and the romance, faith and happiness that burden and uplift them. Visiting Mr. Green is thoughtful and absorbing.”

SYDNEY MORNING HERALD

“Visiting Mr. Green is one of the most moving, entertaining and mesmerizing productions I have seen for a while. The script is intelligent and sharp, balancing the emotional effects with awesome dexterity. Baron tickles our funny bone in the opening act and then proceeds to drain the audience with moments of electrifying emotion. See this.”
