Very soon after the New York premiere, the South African production of Visiting Mr. Green played between 1998-2001 in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Capetown. Produced by Pieter Torien, it starred Rex Garner and Robert Fridjhon, directed by Rex Garner and Maralin Vanrenen.

A new production of Visiting Mr. Green opened in 2018 in Johannesburg at Auto & General Theatre on the Square.
